GLASS BLOCK TECHNOLOGY

Green PM were invited to assist Glassblock Technologies (GBT) with their Project Management and coordination of two secured schemes in London and Oldham where GBT had been contracted to supply specialist precast floor units that incorporate banks of feature glass block lenses.

Imperial College London

This £120M scheme involved the supply of large fully finished floor panels to two areas of the project. In the first area the panels form part of a feature fully glazed lift lobby design to the main visitor facing lift core of the building over 11 levels. In another area the panels are incorporated into a feature bridge link cutting diagonally across the fully glazed atrium space. The particular style of the units was developed with the architect leaving GBT to close out the technical aspects of the design.

Oldham Town Hall

This scheme involved the supply of similar but smaller precast units to provide a second floor walkway within a glazed extension forming part of an overall £40M re-development of the listed but redundant Town Hall in Oldham.

Green PM's contributions to the above schemes and their close but balanced level of input had minimised cost exposure to the client on two difficult projects.  Quick learning of the processes surrounding an unusual specialist supply item coupled with their proactive input and ”sounding board” contribution when working through problems all helping GBT make the right decisions.
